Bhelpuri: A Delicious and Refreshing Indian Snack

Bhelpuri is a popular Indian street food snack made with puffed rice, sev (thin fried gram flour noodles), chopped vegetables, chutneys, and spices. It is a delicious and refreshing snack that is perfect for a hot day.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups puffed rice
  • 1 tablespoon masala chana (spicy fried split chickpeas) (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons roasted peanuts
  • ½ cup boiled moong beans or boiled moong bean sprouts (optional)
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon lemon juice or add as required
  • ¼ cup sev
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 5 to 6 papdi or puri broken in pieces (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black salt as required

Chutneys:

  • Tamarind chutney
  • Green chutney
  • Red chutney (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the puffed rice, masala chana, roasted peanuts, moong beans, lemon juice, sev, chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, papdi, salt, and black salt.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Serve immediately with the chutneys of your choice.

Tips:

  • For a spicier bhelpuri, add more red chili powder or cayenne pepper to the chutneys.
  • For a healthier bhelpuri, use low-fat or fat-free yogurt in the chutneys.
  • You can also add other vegetables to bhelpuri, such as chopped carrots, cucumbers, or onions.
  • Bhelpuri is best served immediately, but it can also be stored in the refrigerator for up to a day.

Enjoy!
