Bhelpuri: A Delicious and Refreshing Indian Snack
Bhelpuri is a popular Indian street food snack made with puffed rice, sev (thin fried gram flour noodles), chopped vegetables, chutneys, and spices. It is a delicious and refreshing snack that is perfect for a hot day.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups puffed rice
- 1 tablespoon masala chana (spicy fried split chickpeas) (optional)
- 2 tablespoons roasted peanuts
- ½ cup boiled moong beans or boiled moong bean sprouts (optional)
- ½ to 1 teaspoon lemon juice or add as required
- ¼ cup sev
- ½ to 1 teaspoon chaat masala
- ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder
- 5 to 6 papdi or puri broken in pieces (optional)
- Salt to taste
- Black salt as required
Chutneys:
- Tamarind chutney
- Green chutney
- Red chutney (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the puffed rice, masala chana, roasted peanuts, moong beans, lemon juice, sev, chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, papdi, salt, and black salt.
- Mix well.
- Serve immediately with the chutneys of your choice.
Tips:
- For a spicier bhelpuri, add more red chili powder or cayenne pepper to the chutneys.
- For a healthier bhelpuri, use low-fat or fat-free yogurt in the chutneys.
- You can also add other vegetables to bhelpuri, such as chopped carrots, cucumbers, or onions.
- Bhelpuri is best served immediately, but it can also be stored in the refrigerator for up to a day.
